WATCH THE INFORMERCIAL FOR THE BOOK HERE

Inspired by a true story about a Yoruba Queen named Bilikisu Sungbo, The Great and Mighty Wall is a unique and interesting tale of Bilikisu Sungbo and the construction of the earthen wall in Eredo, of South Western Nigeria.

Panyin Ewusi-Aikins' superb illustrations, together with Mark Simpson's masterful storytelling, will enthral children and adults alike, as they learn about one of Africa's hidden treasures.

Mark and Panyin have utilised their creative license to fill in the missing information, in order to link the facts together, to make this historical achievement more enjoyable to read and understand for all people of all ages.

Did you know that:

· In the 1974 edition of the Guinness Book of Records, they described the city as "the largest earthworks in the world carried out prior to the mechanical era..."

· More earth and rock was used to make the wall than was used in the Great Pyramid at Giza.

Motorists won't be fooled by Tory claims on car parking cuts - Maria Eagle MP

Responding to claims from the Tory-led Government that car parking charges may be reduced by local councils, despite a huge cut in resources, Labour's Shadow Transport Secretary, Maria Eagle said,

"Motorists won't be fooled by this attempt to draw attention away from the double whammy of fuel price hikes and the VAT rise which are combining to drive up prices at petrol stations to record levels. Drivers will feel conned by these false promises that parking charges will be lower under the Tories.

"The Conservative-led government is hitting many councils with front loaded cuts that may actually encourage areas to raise parking charges, not lower them."
